I would like to thank Mrs Irene Murphy for her help in providing details and material for this site

Hedley Murphy, the name strikes a pleasant cord on the strings of my memory. He was one of those preachers that once you heard expound the Word it was never forgotten. Hedley Murphy was not just an easy preacher to listen to but had the ability to read a passage of Scripture and bring something new and wonderful out of it. You left the meeting thinking why did I not see that before?. During the years that I had the privilege of sitting under his ministry I cannot remember a time when I did not come out challenged or encouraged.

Hedley Murphy had the ability to speak simply and clearly bringing ministry out at a level that everyone could understand ,yet at the same time he could expound profound truth to a depth that was beyond the ability of many other teachers.

Hedley’s knowledge of Israel was unparalled and his exposition of Bible prophesy in relation to Israel was a blessing and encouragement to many.

Hedley Murphy organised many trips to Israel, over 40 in all making him one of the most sought after quides during his lifetime. A full page on the Israel trips can be found here or on the navigation bar.

Over the years tent crusades were held in Garavah, Carryduff and many other places. Details of these can be found here or on the navigation bar

Perhaps not known to many people was the fact that Hedley was a nephew of the late Frank Knox. Frank Knox’s brother had a daughter who was Hedley’s mother. It is wonderful how the Lord works through families to fulfill his will and plan.

Hedley Murphy went home to be with the Lord on 28th May 1985 he was only 57 years old. For him the battle was over, the work completed the victory won. Why the Lord takes home such a gifted servant so young is not for us question. We must remember what scripture says “ As for God his way is perfect”. It is not until such a man as Hedley Murphy is taken from our midst that we fully realise what we have lost. Today he is with Christ which for him is far better. May we remember that we too one day will leave this scene of time to be ever with the Lord. Let us work for him while is is yet day for soon the night will come and the opportunity for us to work for Him will be over.

For further reading on Hedley Murphy’s life story please go to the links on this page where you will find the book “Under His Wings”  available for reading online. Also soon to be published on this site is the book “A Man For The Master” which was written by DR Tatford. I hope to have this online here before the end of 2004 D.V. This book was never published, it was written after the death of Hedley Murphy in 1986. I believe that DR Tatford went home to be with The Lord that year.

A picture gallery is available and can be reached by the link on the side of this page. It contains pictures of the tent crusade in Garavah and Carryduff. Other pictures of Israel and those involved in the work with Hedley are also included. If anyone is unhappy about their picture being in the gallery please email me at harry@the-laws.org.uk and I will remove it.
