Frank,s wife Sarah

Who died in 1922             aged 39

My first recollection of Frank Knox was when he came and preached the gospel one sunday night in Broomhedge Gospel Hall, the year must have been around 1961. I was only seven at the time but I can still remember it clearly. I do believe that he had a series of gospel meetings in Broomhedge Gospel Hall sometime in the 1960s but I cannot recall exactly when..But I do remember him shaking my hand on the way out of one of the meetings. I was behind my late father and he ask me if I was saved. I told him “no I’m not”. I remember his reply to this day. He said “well son if the Lord comes back and the door of heaven is closed your father won’t be able to open it for you”.

My next recollection of Frank was at the Easter convention ( in those days you were taken to the Easter convention even if you were only 10 years old, you had no choice in it) where he gave a report on his visit to New Zealand. From then on I heard him at a few gospel meetings. The last time I was to hear Frank Knox preach was at Maranatha Gospel Hall it must have been around 1973 or early 1974  I can clearly remember what he preached on . He took the verse from Psalm 23 “ The Lord is my sheperd ”. Frank could preach the gospel from any verse.

Frank Knox was a man for his time. His delivery of the gospel message was delivered with a passion that is not often seen today . He preached the gospel clearly and simply and always got to the Cross and redemption’s story on every occasion that I heard him. If we don’t get to Calvary in the gospel message we have failed in our objective which is the finished work of Christ.

On the 5th July 1975 Frank Knox went to heaven to be with his Lord and Saviour whom he had loved and served.  Someone made the comment “he hadn’t far to go for he lived on the border of that country all his life”. For him the battle was over. He was heard to say as a friend drove him to a high spot where he could see most of Belfast “Belfast I am free from your blood”. For he had fought the good fight, he had kept the faith, there is laid up for him riches in heaven. As has been said about the other Evangelists on this site only in a day to come will it be fully revealed how many redeemed souls will be able to say I am here because I heard the gospel preached by Frank Knox.

Mr. George Emerson and Mr. Tom Mc Kelvey shared the funeral service at Ormeau Road Gospel Hall.  Mr. J.G Hutchinson spoke at the graveside. It was one of the largest funerals in Belfast for a long time, some would say they had not seen anything like it in their lifetime..

We are now in a new century but the gospel that Frank Knox preached is still the same today as it was then.  “He that believeth on The Son hath everlasting life” That verse is still the same today  John ch 3 verse 36

One day we will meet Frank in glory where we will be able to sing together. Unto him that has loved us and cleansed us from sin in his own blood.

A number of audio tapes are available for download on the download page. As you will note not many are available but it is good to have been able to obtain some. If any one can help in this area and have some old recordings of Frank Knox ( it does not matter if they are on the old reel to reel tapes) I would like to be able to copy them and put them online so that  others who were not even born when Frank went to be with Christ will be able to hear him preach the glorious gospel. Even yet some may find Christ through the preaching of Frank Knox. You may contact me at this e-mail address  harry@the-laws.org.uk

The book “Frank Knox”  written by Mr. J,G Hutchinson is available for viewing and can be seen by clicking on the picture of the book cover on the side bar or by clicking here

I would like to thank Mr. J.G Hutchinson for allowing publication of his book on this site.

This site is not to glorify Frank Knox for he would not have wanted that, but to glorify Christ the one who died for us and washed away our sin in his own blood.
